William Alfred Patterson, 85, of 53 South Morris Street, Waynesburg, died at 9 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 1997, at his home.

He was in his usual health and died of an apparent heart attack.

He was born April 9, 1912, in Rogersville, a son of Hal W. and Elizabeth Cole Patterson.

Mr. Patterson lived his entire life in Greene County, and was a member of the Pursley Baptist Church in Oak Forest.

Mr. Patterson owned and operated a turkey farm near Oak Forest for several years. For 30 years, he owned and operated Patterson Floor and Wall in Waynesburg.

After his retirement, Mr. Patterson owned and maintained several rental properties in Waynesburg.

Mr. Patterson was a member of the Waynesburg Masonic Lodge No. 153 F&AM and a former member of Waynesburg Elks Lodge No. 757.

He is survived by his wife, Clarice Phillips Patterson, whom he married May 18, 1939; a daughter, Willa Lee Brooks of Waynesburg; a son, Howard "Jack" Patterson of Plymouth, Mich.; two grandsons, James Douglas Patterson and Michael Patterson; and a brother, Arthur L. Patterson of Pine Bank.

A sister, Geraldine Hartley, is deceased.

PATTERSON - Friends of William Alfred Patterson of 53 South Morris Street, Waynesburg, who died Saturday, September 20, 1997, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, with Pastor Thomas Vance officiating. Interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bluff. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Greene County Historical Society, R.D. 2, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
