Donley J. Patton, 71, of Waynesburg, R. D. 2, died after a brief illness at 1 a.m. Sunday, December 7, 1980, in Greene County Memorial Hospital.

He was born November 19, 1909, in Waynesburg, a son of William A. and Lovetta Ammons Patton, and resided all his life in the Waynesburg area.

Mr. Patton, a 1930 graduate of Waynesburg High School, was a farmer and stockman.

He also was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and had driven a school bus for the late Carl Cole for more than 10 years.

Mr. Patton was an active member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Gordon Hill, where he was a trustee, Sunday Schoool superintendant and a Sunday School teacher. For many years he was a member of Waynesburg Lodge 469, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Shultz Patton, whom he married June 5, 1935; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Linda) Henderson of Waynesburg, R. D. 2; a son, William L. Patton of Waynesburg R. D. 3; four grandchildren, Judy and Donley Henderson and Richard and Randy Patton; a great-granddaughter, Shelly Patton; and two sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Eulalia) Hutson of Dresden, Ohio and Mrs. Curtis (Wilmot Jane) Swan of San Antonio, Texas.

A great-granddaughter is deceased.
