Mrs. Sudie Pettit, wife of John Pettit, died of hasty consumption at the home of her
husband, near Sycamore Station, Washington township, on Thursday, April 2, 1885. Mrs.
Pettit was a lady well respected by all her acquaintances. She was a daughter of
ex-Treasurer A. M. Baily. She was a member of the Bates fork Baptist church and the
remains were interred in the cemetery belonging to that church near Sycamore station.
Deceased was aged about 24 years and leaves a young husband and many other friends
and relations to mourn her early demise.
