BUSHNELL -- Kenneth E. Ray, 76, of 2100 Valkyrie Drive, Rochester, Minn., formerly of Bushnell, died at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 1996, at his home.

Born Feb. 4, 1920, near Abingdon to James and Lula Fordyce Ray, he married Melba Lee on June 8, 1947, in Bushnell. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Richard L. of Dallas City; three daughters, Mrs. Terry (Deborah) Curtis of Walker, Minn., DiAnne Carlson of Rochester, Minn., and Mrs. Thomas (Dawn) Strange of Zumbrota, Minn.; and nine grandchildren. One brother and one granddaughter preceded him in death.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1422.

He was a welder for Snowden Implement Co. in Bushnell. He founded Ray's Welding in 1950. He was founder, owner, president and chief executive officer of Bushnell Illinois Tank Co.

He was a member of Bushnell Presbyterian Church and was a former member of Bushnell Rotary Club.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at his church. The Rev. Randall Paine will officiate. Calling hours will be after 2 p.m. Monday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Bushnell Cemetery, where a memorial service will be conducted by his VFW post.

Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program.
