Dr. H. C. Rice, Of New Freeport, Dies

Dr. Homer C. Rice, [unreadable], prominent pysician and citizen of Springhill township, died Wednesday morning at 4 o;clock at his home in New Freeport, following an illness of a complication of diseases.

Dr. Rice was a son of Joshua Rice, deceased, and Mrs. Henrietta Rice and had spent his entire life in the New Freeport section where he had been a practicing physician for the past 23 years. He had a wide acquiantance and was held in high esteem by his many friends. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Methodist Episcopal church. Besides his mother and his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Braddock Rice, he leaves three children, Mildred, Margaret and Ruth Rice, all at home; one sister, Mrs. R. E. Kent, of Bridgeport, Conn, formerly of Waynesburg, and four brothers, Charles Rice, residing in Ohio; James and John Rice, of New Freeport, and Harry Rice, of St. Clairsville, O.

Funeral services will be held at the Rice home in New Freeport, and also in Pleasant Hill M. E. church Friday afternoon. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.

DR. HOMER CORBLY RICE

Dr. Homer Corbly Rice, a well known and prominent physician, died at his home in New Freeport, Wednesday morning, December 24, 1919, aged 50 years, of a complication of diseases. Dr. Rice was a son of Joshua Rice, deceased, and Henrietta Fordyce Rice, of New Freeport, and was born at Memphis, Mo., May 20, 1869. He attended the public schools and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburg and later completed a post graduate course at Polyclinic hospital, Philadelphia. At an early age he united with the Pleasant Hill Methodist Episcopal church and lived a consistent christian life. He was superintendent of the Sunday school and when his health would permit he was always in attendence at all the church services. He had been a practicing physician at New Freeport for twenty-three years and had made many friends throughout the county. He was a charter member of the Springhill Lodge, K. of P. He was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth N. Braddock, who with three daughters survive, Mildred, Margaret and Ruth Rice, all at home. His mother, Mrs. Henrietta Rice, and the following brothers and sisters also survive: Charles H. Rice, of Belmont, O.; Harry, of St. Clairsville, O.; James and John Rice, of New Freeport, and Mrs. Lillian R. Kent, of Bridgeport, Conn. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Pleasant Hill M. E. church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. A. Coffman. Services at the grave were in charge of the K. of P. lodge. Interment in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
