James B. Schroyer
James B. Schroyer, 76, of 228 South Market Street, Carmichaels, died of a heart attack at 3:25 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 1987, in his home. He was born June 20, 1911, in Munhall, a son of William and Mary Burnett Schroyer. His wife, Pauline Cree Schroyer, died in August 1972. He was a professor of geology at Waynesburg College from 1953 until his retirement in 1976. While at the college, he established the Field Geology Camp in Florissant, Colo., where for many years he conducted an annual summer program. He was responsible for expanding the college's geology program, including the development of regional field trips. He also was awarded numerous National Science Foundation grants for advanced studies in the Bahamas, Montana, Florida and other locales. He was a member of the Warriors Trail Association and the American Association of Retired Persons. He is survived by a son, Fred Cree Schroyer of Carmichaels R. D. 1, and five grandchildren.
