Carl Clovis Smith
Funeral services were held Sunday for Dr. Carl Clovis Smith, a native of Pine Bank district, who died at his home in Moundsville, W. Va., Friday night, February 10, 1939, from a heart attack. He had successfully practiced dentistry for five years since moving to Moundsville from Wheeling, W. Va., five years ago. Dr. Smith was born December 4, 1895, on the Smith farm, Pine Bank, R. D. 2. He was an active member of the American Legion, having enlisted for service with the Medical Reserve Corps during his senior year at Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. He was graduated in 1919. Surviving are his wife, Lulu Bell Smith, whom he married July 2, 1922; his parents, Joseph B. and Mary Clovis Smith, of New Concord, O., a sister, Mrs. D. Clyde Haines, of near Pine Bank; two nephews, Joseph C. Haines of Detroit and Carl Raymond Haines of Pine Bank; and two nieces, Mary and Jean Haines, of Pine Bank.
