VERNON L. SMOUSE

Vernon L. Smouse, 44, of 195 S. Richhill street, died at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 1951, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital after an illness of three weeks. Death was caused by a heart condition.

He had lived in Waynesburg for nearly 20 years and was employed at Waynesburg College. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the First Christian Church.

A son of Edgar and Madge Zimmerman Smouse, he was born at Martinsburg on Sept. 27, 1906.

Surviving in addition to his parents, who reside at Laguna Beach, Calif., are his wife, Blanche Fordyce Smouse; four children, Barbara Lee, Douglas, Wilbert and J. Warren, all at home, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Maude Wertz of Johnstown and Mrs. Mary Hughes, Mrs. Ona Sullivan, Mrs. vesta Laytte, alton, George, Glendon and Warren, all of Laguna Beach, Calif.


SMOUSE - Friends of Vernon L. Smouse of 195 South Richhill street, who died Saturday, April 14, 1951, are being received at the George I. Church Funeral Home, 197 North Maiden street, where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, with the Rev. Earle B. Kine officiating. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville, with graveside rites conducted by James Farrell Post No. 330, American Legion, Waynesburg.
