Charles E. Spitznogle
Retired coal miner was U.S. Navy veteran

Charles Edward Spitznogle, 62, of 1378 Big Shannon Run Road, Waynesburg, died at 1:55 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2001, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born March 5,1939, in Blacksville, W.Va., a son of Louise Mayfield Spitznogle of Mt. Morris and the late Edward E. Spitznogle.

Mr. Spitznogle was a member of Spraggs United Methodist Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Cumberland American Legion Post 400.

Mr. Spitznogle was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and was a train hobbyist.

He worked for several years as a coal miner for RAG Corp. at the Kirby Cumberland Coal Mine, retiring June 4, 2001. He was a member of United Mine Workers Union.

On May 31,1958, he married Illona Warmann, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Charlene Obrad of Mt. Morris, and Debra Eisiminger and Misty Hannah, both of Waynesburg; two sons, William C. Spitznogle of Waynesburg and Gary G. Spitznogle of Spraggs; 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Kevin, Alyssa, Sammi, Mollie and Breanna Spitznogle, Travis and Drew Eisiminger, Amy and Matt Obrad and Brett Stump; three sisters, Sharon Roach of Waynesburg, Brenda Yeager of Virginia Beach, Va., and Enna Wellmann of Newport News, Va.; three brothers, Albert Spitznogle of Mt. Morris, Thomas Spitznogle of Spraggs and Roy Spitznogle of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.


SPITZNOGLE - Friends of Charles Edward Spitznogle of 1378 Big Shannon Run Road Waynesburg, who died Monday, December 31, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 3, with the Rev. Kate Reitz and the Rev. Ken Miller officiating Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township, Greene County. Full military rites will be will be accorded at graveside by Cumberland American Legion Post 400. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Heart Association 10 Duff Road, Suite 304, Pittsburgh PA 15235-3207.


CORRECTION

IN THE OBITUARY of Charles E. Spitznogle, published Wednesday, misspelled was a surviving granddaughter's name. She should have been listed as Breanne Spitznogle.
