Mrs. Simon E. Spitznogle
Mrs. Mary Jane Spitznogle, 75 years, widow of Simon E. Spitznogle of Blacksville, W. Va., died Sunday, September 24, 1961, in the Moody Nursing Home at Blacksville. She had been an invalid eight and a half years. Mrs. Spitznogle was a daughter of George and Caroline Masters Strosnider, and was born March 5, 1886, in Wetzel County, W. Va. Her husband died in 1945. Mrs. Spitznogle had resided most of her life in the Blacksville community. She was a member of Blacksville Baptist Church. Surviving are one son, Edward E. Spitznogle of Mt. Morris; three daughters, Thora, wife of Ray McNeely of Monongahela; Wanda, wife of Wilbur Grooms, of Carmichaels R. D. 1, and Madonna, wife of Kinsey Kuhn of Lorain, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-children, Jesse and Frank Spitznogle, both of Pentress, W. Va.; Charles Spitznogle of Core, W. Va., and Clarence Spitznogle of Westover, W. Va.; one brother, William Strosnider of Dickerson Run, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. Delphia McCord of Daybrook, W. Va. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Blacksville Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Fred I. Williams. Interment in Blacksville Cemetery.
