Simon E. Spitznogle
Simon E. Spitznogle, well known carpenter of Blacksville, W. Va., died following a lingering illness Monday morning, Sept. 24, 1945, at 8:30 o'clock at his home. He celebrated his 78 birthday anniversary this month. Mr. Spitznogle was a son of the late Jesse and Dolly Whitlatch Spitznogle, and was born near Brock on Sept. 14, 1867. He was a member of the Blacksville Baptist Church. He was twice married. His first wife was Mary Jane Tennant. To this union was born five children, namely: Mrs. Arlie Wise, of Morresville, W. Va.; Jesse G. Spitznogle, of Pentress, W. Va.; Charles E. Pitznogle, of Mt. Morris; Clarence H. Spitznogle, and Frankie J. Spitznogle, both of Morgantown, W. Va. His second wife was Mary J. Strosnider, who survives. Four children were born to this union. They are: Mr.s Thora McNeely, of Brave, Edward E. Spitznogle, of the U. S. Army, Mrs. Wanda Grooms and Mrs. Madonna Areford, both of Blacksville, W. Va. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Luzella Wade, of Mt. Morris and two brothers, John and Lewis Spitznogle, both of Mt. Morris. He leaves 29 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
SPITZNOGLE - Funeral services for Simon E. Spitznogle, of Blacksville, W. Va., who died Monday morning, September 24, 1945, will be held Thursday afternoon September 27, at two o'clock, at the Blacksville Baptist Church, with Rev. W. H. Barnes in charge of the services. Burial will be in the Brock Valley Chapel Church Cemetery. Friends will be received at the late residence after five o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon. Funeral arrangements are in charge of George I.
