Esther Byran Sproat, 70, of 22 East Katherine Avenue, Washington, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday,
May 1, 1986, in Washington Hospital.
She was born August 10, 1915, in Wind Ridge, a daughter of John F. and Lucy Dillie Bryan. She was a graduate of Claysville High School and the Washington Hospital School of Nursing, and attended Slippery Rock College. Mrs. Sproat was a nurse at Washington Hospital for many years and worked with the Visiting Nurses Association for 23 years. She was a member of the Church of the Covenant, the Women's Circle of the church, the Washington Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae and the Women's Auxiliary of the hospital. She was a volunteer at the hospital's card and gift shop and at the Presbyterian Medical Center. She was married August 30, 1941 to Harold R. Sproat, who survives. Also surviving are one son, John S., Washington; three sisters, Mrs Harold (Marjorie) B. Jayson, Hasting-On-Hudson, N .Y.; Mrs. Helen B. Steele, Washington, and Mrs. Jessie B. Wilson, Claysville, and two grandchildren, Bryan and Abby Sproat.
