Helen Lucille Stockdale Longtime resident of Greene County Helen Lucille Whitehill Stockdale, 85, of Ridge Manor, Florida, and formerly of Waynesburg, died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, May 13, 2001, in Dade City Hospital, Florida, following a lengthy illness. She was born Nov. 4, 1915, in Brave, a daughter of Andrew Jackson and Zora Headley Whitehill. Mrs. Stockdale had been a resident of Greene County much of her life, prior to moving to Florida in 1999. She was Protestant. Mrs. Stockdale was last employed in the housekeeper department of Waynesburg College, prior to her retirement in 1978. In 1933, she married John Wiley Stockdale, who died in 1979. Surviving are a daughter, Betty Lewis of Ridge Manor, with whom she made her home since 1995; a son, William D. Stockdale of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, Wilbur Whitehill of Greensburg; six grand children; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Deceased are two sisters, Hazel Parker and Gladys Headley; a brother, Joseph Whitehill; a twin brother and sister who died in infancy.
