Ruff Creek - Raymond "Jack" Stockdale Sr., 61 of Ruff Creek died Tuesday,
April 1, 1980 at his home in Ruff Creek after a long illness.
Born April 1918 in center Township, he was the son of the late W. Ray
Stockdale and Nellie Cumberledge.
He was a former resident of Rutan and had lived in Ruff Creek since 1951. He was owner and operator of the Ruff Creek General Store since 1959. During World War ll he was a Sergeant with the 25th Division in Europe and was in the invasion of Normandy on D Day. Surviving is his fiance, Catherine Jenkins of West Union, Pa., one son Raymond J. Stockdale Jr. of RD 5, Waynesburg; one daughter, Mrs. Craig S. (Nancy) Church of RD 2 Prosperity, and four grandchildren, Thea A. Stockdale, Brabley J. Stockdale, Heather M. Church and Jenifer M. Church. Also surviving is a brother, Harry Stockdale of ?, Pa., eight sisters, Blanche Brannon of Oil City, Mrs. Helen Singleton of Zephyrhill, Fl., Mrs. Marie Stewart of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Pauline Wise of Graysville, Mrs. Hope Basore of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Faith Gillogly of Holbrook and Mrs. Joy McCollum also of Holbrook. Preceding him in death was sister Fern.
Friends of Raymond "Jack" Stockdale, Sr. of Ruff Creek who died April 1, 1980, will be received in the Frank J. Behm Funeral Home in Waynesburg from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Thursday and Friday, April 3 and 4, where services will be held Saturday April 5 at 1 P.M. with the Rev. Ronald Evans officiating.
