W. Ray Stockdale, 76, of Holbrook R.D. 1, died suddenly of a heart
attack at 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 1965, in the Greene County Memorial
Hospital.
A well-known retired farmer, he was born October 5, 1888, at Nettle Hill to the late Robert T. and Mary Etta Williams Stockdale. His wife, the late Nellie Cumberledge Stockdale died November 16, 1960. Most of his life was spent in the Holbrook area where he was a member of the Claylick Methodist Church. Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Wilfred (Blanche) Brannon of Oil City, Mrs. Bob (Helen) Singleton of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Charles (Marie) Stewart of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Allen (Pauline) Wise of Graysville R.D. 1, Mrs. Percy (Grace) Huffman of West Finley R.D. 1, Mrs. Clifford (Hope) McCollum of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. jack (Faith) Gillogly of Holbrook and Mrs. Dennis (Joy) McCollum of Holbrook R.D. 1. Also two sons, Jack of Ruff Creek and Harry of Delmont; three brothers, Thomas of New Kensington, Frank of Zanesville, Ohio and Dave of Nettle Hill; one sister, Nell Cumberledge of Nettle Hill; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
