Harriett Vetcher
Former Washington resident enjoyed traveling Harriett Vetcher, 69, of West Palm Beach Fla., died Wednesday, December 10, 1997, at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Atlantis, Fla. She was born April 13, 1928, in Washington, a daughter of John and Clara Church Johnston. She was a graduate of East Washington High School. Her husband, Peter A. Vetcher of West Palm Beach, was a member of the original Darby's Rangers. During his 38-year military career, she lived in different places. While living in Japan in the 1950s, she worked in security at the American Embassy. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with her brother. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a brother, retired Air Force Col. John D. Johnston of Vienna, Va.; two aunts, Jeanette Gillogly of Waynesburg and Mary D.
