Walter Merle Weir
Former Claysville Resident

Word has been received of the death of Walter Merle Weir, 63, of 12640 Bay Shore Drive, Florissant, Mo., who died September 7, 1997, in his home after a serious illness of nine months.

He was born on July 4, 1934, in Claysville, a son of the late Jesse and Olive Fordyce Weir.

A 1951 graduate of Claysville High School, Mr. Weir served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960.

He was employed for 35 years by McDonnell Douglas of St. Louis, Mo., as a quality assurance engineer, retiring May 30, 1997.

Mr. Weir was married July 1, 1961, to the former Margaret Polovchik, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Paula Irmen of Morton, Ill., and Lori Weir at home; two grandsons, Nick and Kyle Irmen; a sister, Willadean Clutter of Claysville; a stepsister, Pat Collins of St. Louis, Mo.; his stepmother, Lillian Schneider of St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was held September 11 at Transfiguration Church, Florissant. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Florissant.
