Lewis H. Whitlatch
Funeral rites were held Sunday afternoon for Lewis H. Whitlatch, aged 78, well known Waynesburg resident, who died Friday, Oct. 20, at his home on Race street after a brief illness due to heart trouble. Because of scarlet fever in the home the services were private and were held in the home of his son, Earl Whitlatch, on Race street, with Rev. C. C. Fisher in charge. Interment was in the Valley Chapel cemetery at Brock. Mr. Whitlatch spent all his life in Greene county and resided in the Brock community before coming to Waynesburg many years ago. He was son of Jacob and Catherine Headlee Whitlatch, and married Miss Hannah Cumley, whose death occurred 28 years ago. He leaves the following children: Earl Whitlatch, Miss Vinnie Whitlatch, and Mrs. Earl Price, all of Waynesburg, and Guy Whitlatch, of Morrisville. WIDELY KNOWN WAYNESBURG MAN HEART VICTIM Waynesburg, Oct. 20. - Lewis H. Whitlath, 78, widely known Waynesburg resident, died today at his home in Race street, East End, following a short illness of heart trouble. He had spent his entire life in Greene County. He was a son of Jacob and Catherine Headlee Whitlatch. His wife, the former Miss Hannah Cumley, died 28 years ago. He leaves the following children: Earl Whitlatch, Miss Vinnie Whitlatch, and Mrs. Flo Price, all of Waynesburg; and Guy Whitlatch, of Morrisville. He was a member of the Waynesburg M. E. Church. Because of a scarlet fever quarantine funeral services will be private. They will be at the home of Earl Whitlatch, Race street, Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev. C. C. Fisher, of Waynesburg, will officiate.
