Archibald Wood Obituary

Archibald F. Wood, aged 63 years, a prominent farmer and stock raiser of Center Township, died Thursday night, July 29, at 10 o'clock at his home near Rogersville, following an illness of several months of Bright's disease and rheumatism. Mr. Wood was a son of Jesse Wood, deceased, and Mrs. Maria Fordyce Wood, of Holbrook, who survives at the advanced aged of 87 years. For several years, Mr. Wood resided in West Virginia, but the greater part of his life was spent in Center township where he was born and reared. He was a member of the Christian church and in his politics was a staunch Democrat. Besides his aged mother, he is survived by his wife, whose maiden name was Lucy Rush; two daughters, Sarah and Georgia, and a little son. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Silas Wood, William Wood and Mrs. James Harris, of Holbrook, and Mrs. J. A. Tustin, of near Waynesburg. Funeral services in charge of the Rev. D. R. Piper, were held Saturday forenoon in the Willow Grove Christian church. Interment was in the Willow Grove cemetery.

Archibald F. Wood, a well known and highly respected citizen, died at his home near Rogersville, Thursday evening, July 29, aged 63 years, after an illness of several months from Bright's disease and rheumatism. Mr. Wood was a son of Jesse Wood, deceased, and spent the greater part of his life in Center township where he followed farming. He was a member of the Christian church. Beside his wife and mother, Mrs. Maria F. Wood, of Holbrook, he is survived by three children, and the following brothers and sisters, Silas and William Wood and Mrs. James Harris, of Holbrook, and Mrs. J. A. Tustin, of near Waynesburg. The funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in the Willow Grove church conducted by the Rev. D. R. Piper. Interment in Willow Grove Cemetery.
