Charles E. Wood, 63, of Holbrook, died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 1972, in the home of
his sister, Mrs. Woodrow (Aldene) Taylor, of Mt. Lebanon. He had been in failing health for
the last eight months.
A son of the late Isaac Campbell Wood and Frances Roberts Wood, he was born Nov. 1, 1908, at Holbrook, where he resided all his life. Mr. Wood served for 37 years as postmaster at Holbrook, retiring in June, 1969. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the army post office in New York City from 1943-1945. Surviving in addition to his sister, Mrs. Taylor, are a foster sister, Mrs. John (Marie) Hull, of Rogersville, a nephew, Robert L. Taylor, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; an aunt, Mrs. Matha B. Karp, of Freemont, Calif.,and several cousins. Funeral services were held Monday with burial in Greene County Memorial Park. Newspaper obituary, date and source unknown (Greene County, PA) |
