Paul W. Zimmerman

Paul William Zimmerman, 57, of New Freeport R. D. 1, died unexepectedly at 4:35 p.m. Monday, May 2, 1988, in Greene County Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 1, 1930, in Spraggs, a son of Edna Mae Phillips Zimmerman Strawn and the late George William Zimmerman.

He was employed for 22 years with the Sinclair Copper Co. of Monaca as a production foreman, and retired due to ill health in 1973.

After retiring her moved to Greene County, where from 1973 to 1980 he operated The Furniture Stripping and Refinishing Shop.

He was Protestant.

He was a member of the Centennial Church of God, where he served as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth advisor. He was a former Sunday school superintendent and former chairman of the Circuit Council of the church.

He also was president of the Centennial Cemetery Association.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Alma Shirley Moninger Zimmerman, whom he married September 13, 1952; three daughters, Mrs. Ed (Debra) Shields of Darlington, Mrs. Robin (Donna) Roberts of New Freeport R. D. 1 and Mrs. Mark (Nancy) Horr of Star Route, Rogersville; three grandchildren, Mark Kasparek, Greg Roberts and Jennifer Horr; a brother, Charles L. (Chuck) Zimmerman of Jeannette; his stepfather, Carl E. Strawn of North Porter Street, Waynesburg; a stepbrother, Thomas Strawn of Dallas, Texas; a stepsister, Mrs. James (Carol) Long of Diamond Bar, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
