Robert E. Zimmerman

Robert E. Zimmerman, 70, of Spraggs R.D. 1, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 1987, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, after being ill for one day.

He was born December 20, 1916, in Spraggs, a son of William and Goldie Hixenbaugh Zimmerman.

His entire life was spent in the Spraggs area where he was a member of the Spraggs United Methodist Church. He was serving his second term as Wayne Township auditor and was president of the board. He had worked as a carpenter and electrician for Duquesne Light Company and Jessop Steel Co. and was also a coal miner.

For more than 36 years, he was a manager and meat cutter at Bell's Market in Blacksville prior to his retirement in 1983.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Amy E. and Anne R. Zimmerman of Destin, Fla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Garee of Scenery Hill, Mrs. Florence Calvert of Spraggs and Mrs. Clemmie Longstreth of Washington R.D. 4.

His wife, Helen Phillips Zimmerman, died October 29,1977.

Also deceased are a son, Robert E. Zimmerman Jr.; and two sisters, Cecyle Wise and Mable Phillips Hillberry; and two brothers, George William and Charles Edward.
